AmazonUploader browse button not working in IE7

Oct 21, 2008 at 5:51 AM
I'm recently downloaded the latest version of AmazonUploader.  I run it in debug mode in Visual Studio, and when I click on the browse button nothing happens.  I assume it's a JavaScript bug, just not sure where.

It works without problems in Firefox however.

Thanks in advance for your help

1. Do you see the problem when you go to?
http://flajaxian.com/flajaxian.com/docs/#demo

2. What is the browser that you see not working?

3. What is the version of your flash? Go here to find: http://www.playerversion.com/ Is it Debug version?

1)  Yes I see the same problem when I go to the demo page

2) It's not working in Internet Explorer 7 on Windows Server 2003

3) I have flash player version 9

It work fine in my Firefox 3 browser.

It seems to be a security restriction of Windows Server 2003 - IE that does not allow access of the Flash Player to file upload dialog.

Number of people using Windows Server 2003 is quite low though.

Can you go here and tell me the exact version of flash you have

It shows that my player version is Win 10, 0, 12, 36.

Thanks for your help. Looks like it's windows 2003 server issue. The file upload dialog works well in IE7 on other operating systems.

You'll have to wait for FileUploader v2 as Flash 10 disallows file upload

I found this blog http://theflashblog.com/?p=423, that seems to contain the answer to the Flash 10 browse issue.  They recommend to "place the FileReference.browse within an MouseEvent.CLICK handler" otherwise a security restriction will prevent the browse window from opening.  I'm not a flash programmer, but it seems like a small change.  Is this something you guys can change?

Thanks.

The limitation of Flash player 10 is as follow:
- you cannot show Browse Dialog unless it is triggered by button inside a flash.

So the only way to do that is  to generate the UI of the buttons inside the flash there is no quick way around. This is planed for Flajaxian 2.0 that should be ready within a week.
